Both supraclavicular lymph nodes swollen1/28/2024 ![]() ![]() In many cases, red tide victims report conditions post-red tide toxin exposure that do not respond to traditional antibiotic treatment. There has been an increase in pneumonia and bronchitis diagnoses following a red tide outbreak. Studies in sea animals (sea mammals) indicate that there may be some opportunistic infections that can result when the red tide toxin renders the immune system ineffective. If you have COPD or other lung compromise, red tide toxin may create a life-threatening situation in your body. There are a few studies which indicat an impact on respiratory function (pulmonary function tests show constriction in airways, particularly for the COPD, asthma, or other pre-existing lung conditions), runny nose, sore throat, eye inflammation, dry cough, etc. Red tide toxin's impact on human beings is not widely studied. You may or may not know that the red tide outbreak is there, but often there is a very foul-smell in the air and evidence of dead or dying fish (even dolphins and other larger sea mammals). I am wondering if anyone that has described swollen lymph nodes has had this occur specifically when exposed to red tide toxin (brevetoxin) while at the beach. They really are swollen and it is "something". I know what my neck is supposed to look like and my fiance' agreed with me that it isn't my imagination. Doctor don't know what it is, doesn't believe me and tried to tell me that the glads were fat and that it wasn't swollen. Now we are at about 7 weeks and just the supraclavicular lymph nodes are swollen and low grade fever and fatique. Two weeks later and I still am sick with fever, chest congestion and swollen supraclavicular lymph nodes. Week later, still had symptoms, but not as severe as before and he tested for something similar to mono and it also came back normal. Results came back normal and negative for mono. After another week of this, I went back to the doctor and they did bloodwork and tested for mono. ![]() Everyday it seemed to slowly get better but it was still hanging around. He decided that it was bronchitis and gave me antibiotics, zpack. ![]() After 17 days of fighting it, i went to my doctor (internal medicine and highly recommended). I thought virus because of the way i felt. It started with a sore throat, chest congestion, low grade fever. I know I need to be seen but I am asking your true advice-is this something that can hold off for a month or so with being checked or is this an immediate need for a doc? PLEASE HELP!!! Night sweats, bleeding gums, had pain under my ear which cause numbness in the left side of my face. EXTREME fatigue-have to leave work to go home and sleep-will sleep 17 hours a day. Since then, I started getting all of these other symptoms-instantaneously. The pain subsided after a couple days and the lump kind of moved backwards but it is still pretty large-about as big as a golf ball, but there is no pain at all-its just localized and painless-no tenderness at all. But a few weeks ago, I got this painful lump in my neck that actually was so big that it caused pain in my face (right above the left side of my collar bone). Hi-I have something like this going on too and I can't help but get really freaked out, as I don't have insurance and feel like I have to wait until I get a job so that I can get the insurance in case something really is wrong. ![]()
